Plan for a Sustainable & Livable Richmond for All

Federal Interagency Working Group on Environmental Justice

(See Agenda Below)

The Federal Interagency Working Group on Environmental Justice will convene in Richmond, California with the broader Richmond community to showcase models for addressing environmental justice topics and identify partnership opportunities to Plan for a Sustainable and Livable Richmond for All. This convening will focus on jobs to secure strong, healthy, and sustainable, equitable communities.

Like many parts of the country, Richmond's communities are combating a complex and interlocking array of social, economic and environmental challenges. In Richmond, however, these challenges are accentuated and concentrated: unemployment rate is approximately 18%, affordable and workforce housing are in low supply (57% of households paying more than 30% of housing income for housing), and community health inequities (e.g. asthma and heart disease) are severe, with chronic disease rates especially impacting the City's low-income communities of color. Plan for a Sustainable and Livable Richmond for All will aim to address these challenges through the triple bottom line framework of environment, economy, and society - spurring job creation while improving public health and building a more vibrant, livable community.
